Sort of a hello, and a ?
thought i'd say hi and introduce myself. I'm on my 2nd cycle of going to an RE (NYRS in Mineola), and its our 10th month of TTC'ing. I've been shy about posting here because i don't necessarily have any medical issues (that i know of yet) preventing me from getting pregnant.. it just hasn't happened for us yet. I post on the TTC boards every once in a while also.
My main question to you ladies is how do you stay sane and manage to 'relax' when you're seeing an RE? Everyone says, oh just relax, things will happen when they're going to happen. Which is great, but they haven't happened yet. I just turned 37 so i don't have the luxury of time on my side.
I've always tried to be fairly relaxed about the process. I don't temp, chart or check EWCM - i just don't want to get that detailed or precise about it unless my dr says i have to. I started using OPK's after about 4 months of trying because i wanted to verify that i was actually O'ing. They confirmed that for me and we do try and time BD'ing around it, but thats it. I've only POAS once in 10 months of trying because i'm fine with waiting for AF to show up.
I've tried to stay fairly relaxed about all of this, but the very nature of seeing an RE makes it VERY hard to truly relax and not think about it all the time. When i'm going every few days to have blood drawn and ultrasounds, its really hard to not think about the potential there. I have to say that DH is wonderfully supportive when i do have an episode of depression, so i'm truly thankful for that.
So, how do you do it?

Re: Sort of a hello, and a ?
I HATE it when people tell me to "relax".
It's amazing how many people think getting pregnant is a result of a state of mind (eg. "maybe it's becuase you are under stress", "I know someone who tried for yeras and then when they stopped trying so hard ...it happened")
After a long period of time of trying things in all ways possible... relaxing, timing, not timing, sex every day, every other day, meds... the endless hope every month for too long... and now sticking myself with needles every night... I don't think there is a good way to fully relax.
What I think is really true is you will make all the necessary steps at the time that's right for YOU.
Good luck!

Re: Sort of a hello, and a ?
I hate people telling me to relax, its not happening because you are stress. How could I not stress its been over 1 year. I think going to the RE and having test done is making me insane right now. I am having HSG and some more blood work and it is stressing me out because all I think of maybe my tubes are blocked. Sometimes I have to talk myself out of it. It is really hard to stay strong and keep going on every month but I pray that one day soon I will finally be pregnant.
Be yourself and do what makes you happy. Life is full of surprises. Welcome aboard!!

Re: Sort of a hello, and a ?
My husband and I went to NSUH after 9 months of TTC. Originally the Dr. thought I had a blocked tube, negative, then we moved onto injectable med w/ IUI - first round in August- negative-we were crushed!! Took the month of September off and IUI round #2 in October and it WORKED!! I am now due July 7. People said the same to me RELAX, and sorts of stories, etc. How annoying! Round #2 I did acupuncture and we had sex the night of day #1 and the following morning of day #2. On paper we are healthy and perfect, I was 32 when we started TTC, I am now 34 and will be 34 when the baby is born!! Yipee!!! First sono this Monday.

Re: Sort of a hello, and a ?
Yeah, I am not sure I am ever really relaxed since this is such a huge part of my life right now. However, on the flip side, it has...after a year and 7 months become...just become part of my life. I don't think I stress as much as I used to now that I am seeing an RE because I have more of a plan. Before, I would cry about every little change, day of spotting, or BFN. Now, I just take it in stride knowing that I have my RE in my corner to steer me in the right direction.
Good luck with everything and don't stress out trying not to stress out!

Re: Sort of a hello, and a ?
The best advice I can give you is take one day at a time. Don't think about all the appointments you have to go to - just think about your next one. Otherwise it can get overwhelming.
Good Luck to you!
