Being overcautious?
So my RE is determined that I have successfully menstrated for the first time in 17 months and that I am expected to ovulate any day now. While I am excited about this, I am slightly concerned with his lax approach to my situation. I have a planned trip to visit family out-of-state for the next 5 days. My RE's suggestion was to BD every other day and come back in on Tuesday when I return for a blood and sono follow up.
Here is where my concern lies... I was told by 3 REs, including my current one, that IF i were to ever OV, that they couldnt predict whether I would ever get another chance. That I would be grouped with only 5% of the population that ever gets the chance to concieve using their own eggs given my condition. If thats the case, why is he not interested in doing a retrieval and IUI to increase my chances?! This is really upsetting to me, because I fear that this may be my only chance. I just dont want to waste when a more aggressive approach could be considered. Am I crazy to think that this shouldnt be left to chance?
I am waiting for the office to call me back after I questioned his decision to see if the approach will be changed.

Re: Being overcautious?
I don't think any doctor would just do a retrieval kind of "spur of the moment." I definitely could see doing an IUI, even though that would increase your chances only slightly. I'll be curious to hear what they say when they call u back. I totally see why you are frustrated and/or nervous. Maybe he didn't want to do an IUI bc you planned to be out of town?
Hope it all works out!

Re: Being overcautious?
yeah, i could see him wanting to do an IUI or even b2b IUIs. IUI doesn't increase your chances that much, but every little bit counts if you don't O often. BDing every other day makes sense, but I would think the RE would like to give you every opportunity...IUI and BD. Maybe since you will be away he is saying just timed BD?
