Re: Has anyone thought of the Christening?
I am due in 4 weeks and I haven't thought of it yet. I guess I should start thinking about it soon.

Re: Has anyone thought of the Christening?
Usually it is done within 3 months of the birth right?
I was trying to figure how many people it would be and it came out to like 70

DH wants it in our backyard
I say at my parents house. I know they would be up for it.
We didn't start making up a list, cause it would be too many. Just our immediate families are about 34 people

that's what i'm thinking for the reception...however we would have to rent some type of tent just in case the weather is bad because there is no way we could accommodate everyone inside ...
we want to keep it really small, but haven't actually put together a guest list.

Re: Has anyone thought of the Christening?
I just did my Baptism class yesterday. We have a list of people ready to invite, just need to decide if we are going to do something at our house or a restaurant. Her christening is scheduled for June 18th already. If I go late, she will be at least 4 weeks old. My family tradition is to christen the baby within 4-6 weeks of birth, deeper tradition is that the baby isn't suppose to go outside without being washed from original sin. Another one of my superstitious Italian traditions. She is soo going out before the christening!!
Let's just say, I am really really organized
ETS: We will prob have about 20-25 people tops

Re: Has anyone thought of the Christening?
Sarah was born in late Feb and we had it in early June. We invited about 30 people to a local restaurant after the ceremony.
We'll do the same this time, I'm due in late June and we told the church that we wanted late Sept or early Oct (I want a specific deacon, so it depends on his schedule). Then have everyone to the same restaurant.

Re: Has anyone thought of the Christening?
All I've done so far is call the church. The christening is set for June 25th. As far as the party we can't afford much so it will be our backyard (ugh) I can only imagine how much work this will be. But I think it will be fun so I'm looking forward to it. We do need to figure out a caterer of some sort. If anyone has any suggestions, I could use ideas. We're just thinking light, summer, outdoor, kind of late lunch food like sandwiches and salads, etc.

What about a local deli or Quiznos? Then do a fruit salad and make a cake or get a sheet cake from your grocery store bakery or whatever. We've done that a bunch of times in our family, it always is a lot of fun.

You really don't have a time limit, though it's easier to do it earlier on. We're having Christopher's on May 6th and he's 9 months old.

Re: Has anyone thought of the Christening?
I thought about it and we already no where it will be and who will do the catering. We figure we will do it in after the warm weather so the baby will be about 4 or 5 months old.
