weight gain
Just out of curiosity, what is considered normal weight gain through pregnancy. I went to the doctor yesterday and gained a half of a pound in 2 weeks. They didnt say anything about it but I was just curious? TIA!

Re: weight gain
I was told it depends on weight before pregnancy.
If you were underweight: 40-50 lbs. If you were normal weight: 30-40 lbs. If you were overweight: 20-30 lbs.
Keep in mind doctors and web sites will tell you different things. This is what I was told.

Re: weight gain
This is how my Dr. broke it down. She said normal weight gain for an average size person is 25-35 pounds. She said that works out to be 3-6 pounds in the first trimester, and then 1/2-1 pound a week for the rest of the pregnancy. Right now I'm 14w5d and up 3.5-4 pounds.

This is the same I was told when I asked about it. My dr's are nice, they don't mention a thing about weight gain to pg women unless it's way off the charts. He didn't even want to give me the chart..
