Winnie was born 10/26/09!
Our puppy was born 10/26 - we had an email sent to us from the breeder - we are excited she is healthy (checked by the vet already) - but tell me your opinions on this...
The breeder wrote that this was the first litter this mommy dog had. She went into labor three days early, the breeder didnt hear her laboring (which she said she usually hears them so she can be with them) - the first puppy didnt make it out of the sack in time and passed away, two puppies were stillborn, four puppies made it out alive and healthy, the mommy dog was given a shot of oxytocin (pitocin) to push out any remaining puppies, after an hour, nothing happened, the breeder assumed she was done with puppies and went to bed, woke up a few hours later, and the mommy pushed out another puppy that didnt make it out in time.
 So she lost 4 of 8 puppies. Had 2 males/2 females. Winnie is one of those pups for us. I guess it can happen in any litter... I just don't know how I feel, sort of ambivilent in all of this.... TIA

Congrats!! What breed is Winnie? I don't know much about the laboring process but, I do know that it's common for mothers to loose some.
If Winnie got a good check up from the Vet, I wouldn't be too worried. If you are still uneasy about it take her to your Vet once you get her.

To be completely honest I would be a little bit leary of the breeder. I know anything can happen but usually a breeder that is experienced should have known better.

this breeder seems like she is inexperienced. id be weary of her. where did you find her? whats the name of the breeder?

Congrats on your new puppy! My min pin had a litter of 6, all of them survived birth but 3 days later 2 died  the other 4 had no problems (i know for sure because i didnt have the heart to give them away and now have 6 dogs  ) especially since it was a larger litter, im sure it ups the possibility of things going wrong with some of them while the rest are fine.

Its more common then not for some to not survive. If they all survived that would have been a large litter, so its not really that odd that some didn't. As long as yours is healthy.
