Re: This bugs me

I'd honestly be really angry at DH if he did this. It's an ideal chance for him to bond with his son and he just passes it up for alone time. This may sound a bit harsh, but he needs to stop being selfish and start acting a little bit more like a parent.

Re: This bugs me

I understand this oh to well my dh did this the first yr or so when my son was a baby and then it finally stopped. because me and MIL dont get along so finally I made a point to him that he needs to spend alone time with our son and not let her talk him into it because she knows I want you to be alone. my MIL used to do it out of like spite. like as soon as she knew I was at work or out shed call.

Oh Marissa...Chat Icon

Maybe suggest to him that you'd like for him to be home when you get home from work at 11:30. Stress that he needs alone time with RJ...If he wants to go out, how about going to a park with him instead of the MIL's house?

It would bug me to!!! I think its important for Dad's to have their own bonds with their children that they develop on their own.
Can you talk to him about this when you aren't frustrated about it?

Re: This bugs me

I totally agree with your mom--that if your DH is home he should have bonding time with your son. As for your DH going to his mom's house and not really watching your son--that would make me so madChat Icon

That would really bother me too. Sure, it's fine every once in awhile, but all the time is not necessary. It's the perfect time for him to spend bonding with his son. I can see how the MIL is no help in this. Chat Icon

Re: This bugs me

I guess it would depend on WHY he wasn't watching him. My daycare comes out of my check and is a yearly thing so even if we are off, we are paying. When the kids were small I felt very guilty and never put them in if I was home, unless I was really sick. My dh will watch the kids, but this week, he is off and my son is in daycare for the week. He is watching my daughter after school so it is not like he has the whole week to himself!! He would never have a problem with watching them if he had to but I know he needs a break this week and needs to do some running around so it is easier for the younger one to stay in d.c. especially since we are getting charged anyway.
