cat vomiting food?
before we moved, our cat would occasionally vomit up undigested food. i think it was from eating too fast.
right before we moved he had crystals and so we put him on a wet food/dry food diet. he LOVED the wet food, but threw that up a couple of times too.
since we have new carpets, i took away the wet food, thinking that was the problem. well now it's getting worse.
he is ONLY throwing up food - nothing else. and it's undigested.
i bought him new food to try and i am going to throw out the flowers i have in case those are the problems (he might be eating them, i don't think so but i'm not sure).
any other advice or insight?

Re: cat vomiting food?
is he on the rx food?
I have never had my guys throw up the wet rx food from the vet
ocassionaly the dry food- but it's my kitten - not my male who had crystals
the dry rx food is made for crystals and knock wood over 1 year later he is fine

we had him on the wet Rx food and he started throwing that up too.
i got him new dry food 2 days ago (non-Rx) and so far so good... fingers crossed it was just the old dry food!

Re: cat vomiting food?
My cat was having a problem where he was throwing up regularly. The vet ran all sorts of tests but couldn't find anything wrong with him. She suggested putting him on a low residue food because some cats have a sensitive stomach and it worked. Hopefully your cat will be find with the new food you put him/her on but if not, maybe ask your vet about the low residue cat food. FYI, you can only get it at the vet.

Does your cat have IBS?
I had a cat with the same problem. It went on and on and the vet couldn't find anything wrong with him. Eventually it was IBS.

Re: cat vomiting food?
i agree with all the PP
also -- make sure you gradually switch his food... add a little more of the new food mixed in with his old food each day for a week until the last day, where you can feed him 100% new food

Re: cat vomiting food?
Well, so far so good (I really hope I am not jinxing myself by typing that )
He loves the new food and is throwing up a LOT less. Maybe once every 1-2 weeks (which is normal for him, he throws up whole pieces because he eats too fast). I think the size of the food is helping, it's a lot smaller.

Re: cat vomiting food?
Sounds like he is regurgitating if it is undigested and you see no tummy movements when he vomits-I think that is more an issue with the esophogus. Try elevating his food and water so that he is not putting his head all the way down to the floor to eat. Also, if he eats too fast-I think putting some marbles of some sort in the food (if you do a google search you will see writings on this :) to slow him down.
