DH is away...I'm home alone
DH is away until NEXT Thursday. This will be my 1st time staying in the house alone. I am such a baby----I am scared already! We moved in not so long ago and I'm not used to the sounds that the house makes yet. I think I won't be sleeping much until he returns. <yawn>
Am I the only scaredy cat?

Re: DH is away...I'm home alone
you are SO not alone!! my husband was working midnights when we first got our house.. and i was so scared every night.. its definitely natural ..
i made him get me a dog!
i used to sleep with the tv on low.. so it would drown out the house noises.

You are totally not alone. I HATE it when he's not at home. I usually have the radio on and keep a golf club or baseball bat next to the bed.

Re: DH is away...I'm home alone
You are not alone. I hate being by myself. That is why we have an alarm. It helps me. But you get used to it. You start to sleep better after a while. Only good thoughts at night time. Leave lights on in other rooms to make you feel better if you have to. No worries.

Re: DH is away...I'm home alone
The last time DH was away for work, I suspected we had a mouse, because kitty would chase things in the middle of the night, and stay in the cabinets (typical mouse behavior for him). Let me tell you I did not sleep all week! Every time I heard him running around I got out of bed to see what was happening. And seeing his toy mice on the floor freaked me out! I was so scared he was going to bring me a mouse in bed!
And forget about hearing creaks and noises. I live in an apartment so people are always going in and out. It was terrible! I need a big dog.

Re: DH is away...I'm home alone
I was the same way once... a long time ago. now, i LOVE the fact of having the bed all to myself.
Once you get comfortable and "TRUST" your house, you'll be fine.
get a dog they are the best alarm system ever.

Re: DH is away...I'm home alone
I would definitely be afraid being in our new house alone. our house is over 50 years old and acts like it. it creeks and the forced hot air make you hear plenty of things that make you wonder.
We are going to get an alarm b/c we would just feel more comfortable.
