worrying about IF treatment and work
Went for an informational session at my RE bc Ill be doing Clomid and IUI this month. I work an hour away and I am really worried about how I am going to make all these appts with work. Even with AM monitoring hours, I still may not make it to work on time.
How did you girls handle this?? No one at work knows about my IF issues, but if I am going to be late to work, or taking half days, I feel like I have to let my principal know whats going on.
Im am so anxious about all of this.

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
This is my first cycle doing IUI at East Coast Fertility. So far, I only needed to take a half day for the AID session because it was only offered at 12:30. CD3 and 10 happen to be on a Saturday. I have to go in for OM tomorrow morning. I am suppose to sign into work by 7:25. I talked to my chairperson without getting into detail. I plan on getting there when they open, 6:30.
I am also going to try to schedule my IUI in the afternoon, if possible. I work in a middle school so if I can get someone to cover one period, I do not need to take time off.
So far, my chairperson has been very helpful. He knows that I do not take advantage of my sick days.
Good Luck Kate!

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
Its tough and I own my own business. I own a daycare so I am always having to find someone to cover me in the am. The worst is when I am at the dr and they are running behind. I feel like I am letting everyone down.
My DH told his boss that his wife was going through some medical things and he would have to come in late sometimes but that he would stay late to make up hours. His bosses were understanding.

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
I don't work but I am a stay at home mom, and i don't have access to childcare every day. It's been hard not to let some people in on the fact that we are going thru IF treatments. I told a cousin and my mother so they are on standby. I really don't know how I am going to get thru a month of IVF and all of the appts that go along with it, and find someone to watch my son. I am just going to wing it though and try not to stress about it - somehow i feel like these things work themselves out. Some of the appts will fall on weekends and holidays and then you will have to use some sick days. i wouldn't tell anyone at work if you aren't comfortable with it.

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
I also work in a school and, with traffic, my doctor is almost 40 minutes away from work.
I was upfront with my principal from the very beginning. She was very understanding, probably because she has a daughter who is also my age. I usually get into work, 10-15 minutes late each time - sometimes though, I got to work just in time. My doctor opens at 6:30 but I have made all of my appointments for 7:00.
Good luck!

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
I was actually thinking about this yesterday. I dont work, but I am a SAHM. Even for me getting to the AM monitoring is tough though bc I usually have to find someone to watch DS (he doesnt usually wake up before 8:30-9 am). Thankfully, DH is usually still home and he watches him, but on days that he leaves really early I have to drag my poor DS out of bed at 7am I'm sure lots of woman juggle work and monitoring and I give them lots of credit!!!! on some weeks when you have to go multiple times it can get really frustrating!!!!

I guess I would just try it out and see how bad it really is. You may be able to get away with them never knowing if it's only a day here or there that you are showing up late

ITA!
I went at 7 am for my bloodwork... and then went again AFTER work for any sonos that needed to be done. It stunk having to go in 2x/day (and sometimes I did that 4-5x/week!) but it worked out since I didn't have to tell work.
As needed, I also took an hour of sick time here and there....

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
I just told my boss I had a medical issue and would be a little late several days a month. They were fine with it.

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
I am actually very lucky because my boss just went through all of this. She is going to the same facility that I am so I asked her about her doctor and that opened up the gate for that conversation. She has been very understanding and told me that whatever I needed to do that I should just let her know and I can do what I have to do. She even offered me her leftover medication that she still has in her freezer because she said it was so expensive.
I didn't really want to tell everyone about it, but because for my IUI I have to be at the RE's office at 11am and I won't know until the day of I figured talking to her was my best option.

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
My dr's office opens at 6:30am and I need to catch a 7:19 train to get to work. (Hour and a half commute---not fun!)
I get to the dr at 6:10am so I am the first person. The staff usually gets there a little early so most days I am out of there by 6:40 at the latest. Then I speed like a lunatic from Melville to Huntington to get my train.
Not sure what time u have to BE at work, but maybe if u r the 1st patient, u'll be okay?

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
They open at 7. I have to be at work by 815 and it takes about 45 minutes to get there from the dr. So, it I get there earlier than 7 to be the first person, do you think I will make it out of there by 730ish to get to work on time??
I would really rather not tell anyone. No one knows about our issues yet... Not even family and close friends.

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
Yes Im going to ECF but I have to be monitored at Patchogue if during the week (for work purposes) and Mt Sinai if its a weekend and I thought they open at 7am. I thought Plainview only opened at 630?? If not, then I should be OK.

Re: worrying about IF treatment and work
Sorry Katie, I didn't realize which location you were going to. Yes, it is the Plainview office that opens that early.
