Good Brand of Knives?
We currently have an OXO knife set that I want to replace. I want to invest in something long-lasting - what brand knives do you recommend?
TIA!

Re: Good Brand of Knives?
My favorite knife is my Misono. Friggin' thing is the best EVER. It is also insanely expensive. I'm talking 200 for a single knife!
I do have a poor man's set of Chicago Cutlery. And while they are no match for my Misono - they are reliable and have lasted me a good long time. So if you are looking for a good budget knife and you plan on sharpening it and taking care of it - Chicago isn't bad.

Henkel... the ones with the blade through the handle and rivets holding it. I *believe* they are the German made ones.

Re: Good Brand of Knives?
Shun..I have Henckles and think they're ok. I have a santoku that's Wustof that is very good but nothing compares to the Shun.
I have a 6" and 8" Chef's knife that I use almost exclusively.
Stupid expensive but they are the most comfy in my hand and are so easy to use. I can chop all day.
DH got me them as a gift. I loves me my knives!
I'll probably never buy knives again though.

Re: Good Brand of Knives?
Henkels are OK nothing to brag about-the blades got nicked on ours very easily. We have a Cutco knife that is great! We need some new knives

Re: Good Brand of Knives?
hands down...CUTCO!! I love my Cutco knives...I have familiy and friends that have had them for 40 plus years and they still work like they did when they bought them. The have the forever guarantee...they will replace what they can't repair. They are costly, but you will never buy knives again! cutco-how to buy good luck!
