I'm so excited, I will be comissioning a costum made quilt for my bedroom
A lady I have known for a few years through the dachshund lovers website makes beautiful quilts. She has traveled the country for quilt shows. Several people on the site are talented quilters (maybe because dachshunds and blankets go together).
I was lucky enough to get a wall hanging from Ellen in a gift exchange and that is when I fell in love with her work. She will be making me a special order king sized quilt. My quillt will have shades of lavender, purple and some sage green. She has at least 1-2 projects ahead of mine but I told her that I can wait patiently.
I have not picked fabrics yet but I will show them to LIF when I do. It's very exciting to be having something costum made as a one of a kind item!
Wall hanging she made me:
A miniature wall quilt that she made for someone in the same pattern that I will get. I am not sure how large my pattern will be. I am leaving that up to her. The pattern is known among quilters and it is called the drunkard's path. I have to just check b/c there seme to be many variations of this pattern.
Other work of Ellen's:
This one amazes me!! She made it for her step-mother.
This is one that she saw at a quilt festival. It is called State Fair HotDogs!

I am a doxie owner and would love one. My sister and my husband's friend are doxie owners also. I would love to get them for them as gifts.

Well, you do not have to have a dachshund to get a quilt from her but she does put some extra love & care in if you are a fellow doxie person . I know that she has at least 1 project ahead of mine (someone else from the dachshund site) and she travels a lot, so I do not know what the timeframe is for her to get things made for people. I can ask or I can tell you when she starts mine. I should be talking with her in the next few days.
