WW experts-help please

Hi,

I joined WW online last week in hope of losing the last 20 lbs of baby weight.

How do you calculate the points for a recipe that is marinated and then breaded?

For example, last night I made oven fried chicken for my family. It was marinated in buttermilk and olive oil, dipped in egg, then breaded with cornmeal and parmesan cheese. I didn't eat it because I didn't know how to calculate the points.

Can anyone help?

Thank you!

Hello! Not sure if this is the "correct" way to do it but this is what I do. I would put the entire "recipe" into the recipe builder online on WW etools. How much chicken, how much bread crumbs you used, how many eggs, how much cornmeal, etc and then it tell you points based on servings. Does that make sense? Hope it helps! Chat Icon

i would prob just count it as 2 points. think about it- how much of it are u really consuming at one time? it cant be that much and 2 points is on the high end but just to be safe

I think this is probably the most accurate way because you are accounting for every single thing you are putting in the recipe. If I am just marinating with fat free dressing or a marinade I just don't count it because I feel like it is not really that much that seeps in and the rest gets cooked off.

This is my biggest struggle too.

I feel like the above is good if you are actually eating all the components.
I know when I bread stuff I end throwing half of it away so it isn't accurate.

I calculated the points using a Sparkpeople recipe for Buttermilk Oven Fried Chicken = 4 points
