hives on a dog?
DH noticed that hershey had a group of red bumps on his tummy this morning.... they werent ALL OVER his stomach, just in a contained area.... does anyone know what this could be?
i gave him some benadryl before i left for work JUST INCASE its an allergic reaction to something... if its still there this afternoon, DH is going to take him to the vet
anyone ever had this happen to their pup before?!

my dogs have had hives...but they looked more like lumps all over their body...and benadryl worked for them....
it could also be something that irritated your pup...like maybe he rolled around in something outside? how is he now?

he still has them... they arent like lumps persay -- so maybe hives was the wrong way to describe them.... they are red and look like bug bites
they havent spread and SEEMED to possibly gotten a little better.... but i think were going to take him to the vet after work today to be sure!

You know I've experienced that with Brinkley and daily cleaning/spraying with Gentocin fixed it right up. What did the vet say about the rash Hershey had on his underarms that time?
Has he been scratching? Is it possible he has fleas? I found a flea on Brinkley a few weeks ago and even though it was one flea and we never saw another one (did the whole cleaning of the house/bed, gave him a bath, flea combed, etc.) he had been scratching like mad.
I found out (online) that one flea bite can cause an allergic reaction type situation and can affect dogs for days. I'm assuming that's what it was because the vet found nothing and his scratching has lessened.
I hope you get some answers at the vet and that he gets better soon!

he hasnt been scratching the area at all! it doesnt seem to be bothering him one bit!
when he had that rash a while ago the vet gave us a Rx body wash and told us to wash him with that & it cleared it right up! DH is going to try giving him a bath with that stuff tonight
and thanks everyone, i will check him for fleas!!
