IVF at NSUH

Hi, after several failed IUIs, I am moving on to IVF at North Shore hosptial. I see Dr. Rosenfeld but he doesn't do IVF. I need to select a differenct RE I am trying to decide between Dr. Scholl, Dr. Cohen, and Dr. Hershlag. Those of who have done IVF and have seen these drs, who do like the most and why? I think with the IVF process, it would be nice to have a dr who takes time to explain what they are doing without me having to worry about coming up with right questions to ask about. TIA

Dr. Hershlag is my doctor. i just started the whole IVF/PGD process and i think he is GREAT. he literally sat with me for over an hour the other day bc i had so many questions! he also really knows what he is doing and i have heard so many success stories with him. a family friend of mine used him and his donor egg program and she is having a baby this week!

HI.... I met with Dr. Scholl at first but saw all the Dr.'s during my IVF procedure. Dr. Chu did the retreval and transfer and I saw Dr. Hershlag alot for the 8 weeks following the procedure. You cant go wrong with any of the Dr.'s over there I love them all and so happy I was lucky that the IVF worked on the first try. I wish you the best of luck.

We can chime in here as we also did IVF at North Shore. We actually got to see Dr. Cohen, Dr. Scholl, and Dr. Hershlag. My wife did not like Dr. Scholl. Dr. Cohen was just OK. Although very capable doctors, they were not what my wife needed. The IVF process is very hard and painful, so a lot of encouragement and patience is required to make it through. I don't want to go into details, but both doctors were not at all great with the emotional side of the IVF process. You can PM me if you want specifics as to why my wife did not have a pleasant experience with those two doctors.

However, my wife LOVED Dr. Hershlag! He always greeted her with a smile and a hug, and me with a friendly handshake. He answered all our questions very patiently and thoroughly.We wished we had chosen him from the start. It would have made our IVF journey much more pleasant. The only downside with Dr. Hershlag is that during our IVF process, he was on vacation a few times, so we unfortunately had to deal with the other two doctors. If Dr. Hershlag is not available, we would recommend Dr. Chu. She was only available for a short period of time, so we couldn't have her as our choice. She was very friendly and patient as well.

I didn't go through IVF but i did see Dr. Hershlag for my IUI and he was GREAT.
I highly recommend him. He sits with you and goes through every little thing with you.


The office staff was wonderful as well

Thanks everyone! When my dr was out of office for 4 of my appointments, I saw a different doc each time so as to ''interview'' them and see if I liked them in case I have to switch for IVF. But I have never seen Dr. Hershlag. I have seen him walking by the waiting room and always smiling or saying hi to his patients. I think I am going to ask for Dr. Hershlag. I know IVF sucks and it only helps if the dr is nice. Good luck to you all wherever you are in your journey! Thanks
