Should I bring wellies to Venice?
We are going in October and I'm debating on whether or not to bring them. Friends say I should, but they are pretty heavy and I want to save room in my luggage for fun things.
What do you think I should do?

does it rain a lot in venice in october? i was just there in august, so the weather is obviously different, but i don't think you need wellies. just b/c you are surrounded by water, doesn't mean you are in it!

Some guide books recommend bringing them if you are going between September and April. I looked at photos from last December's flooding and I panicked. 
I think I'm going to take a chance and not bring them. We can buy them if it gets bad.
Any recommendations for while we are there?
