shin splints
I am trying to start up running again, but one of my problems in the past was shin splints. Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening?

Re: shin splints
I had the SAME problem.. HORRIBLE shin splits everytime I tried to run.
Then I bought compression sleeves at a local running store and SO FAR SO GOOD!!!!!!! They are working!!!
Also, make sure you stretch and ice after ur run!!
Good luck!

Re: shin splints
I had this problem too and it aws fixed once I got the right sneakers for my feet. I needed something with a lot of cushion and a roomy toe box.

Re: shin splints
Oh nooooooooo G, not good.
Ok this is my remedy but I am not an expert:
-Buy new shoes, get fitted for them. -Get orthodic supports to put in your shoes, helps absord shock (powerstep or superfeet are good brands) - Change out your sneakers every 6 months or 350 miles -After running stretch well (stretch calves) -Ice every night after running, annoying yes but it helps, ice your shins and calves. -Try compression socks, I havent but heard they work -Also look into Chi Running, you can youtube videos, they say it helps with shins

ITA with all of this. Shock absorbers are a god send. Now if I can only get my butt in gear and start running again.
