Casey wets her dog bed...HELP
Hi everyone, I'm fostering a sweet female pit bull and i noticed that she was urinating blood the other day and called the foster group and they thought she was in heat( I never had a female dog before). She has stopped urinating with traces of blood but now I notice that she wets her bed. We have a water proof mattress pad because my beloved buddy had seizures and would wet the bed when he was seizing.
We had her for a week and she never wet the bed before, she is fully housebroken. i think shes doing it in her sleep.
So my question is do female dogs do this because they're in heat? I walked her before she goes to bed and she doesnt drink water after the walk so I dont know why shes wetting her bed. would it help if she was fixed? please help!

i would have the vet check for a uti or bladder infection. my dog once had similar symptoms, accidents over night (so unlike him) and then noticed trace of blood in the urine. turned out to be a uti. the vet put him on antibiotics & he was better in no time.

Re: Casey wets her dog bed...HELP
I just called the foster group again and they think its was due to her having access to water at night. So we're going to take away all the water after 7pm and hopefully she wont have any more accidents. If she does have another one after the water is taken away I'm going to insist they take her to the vet

if there wasnt blood in her urine, i'd say that you just need to be sure that you are taking her out to pee RIGHT BEFORE going to bed
but since there is blood, i'd def take her to the vet

ITA with the others - get her to the vet ASAP. My dog had a UTI that we didn't know about until she started having "accidents" a couple times, but especially since you've seen blood in the urine, that's a definite problem.

I took her out right before bed and she did her business and walked to her bed and fell asleep and at 3am I found her trying to take the mattress cover and cover up the urine so she could go back to sleep. poor girl :(

Vet ASAP in my opinion. It is so unusual for a dog to pee in the place it sleeps and the blood makes me even more nervous.

I don't think it would be in her urine, I was under the impression that it would be evident at other times and in other places. She would also have other symptoms too - my neighbor's dog was swollen in her "sensitive areas" when she was in heat, and her nipples became very obvious too.

Re: Casey wets her dog bed...HELP
Could it be marking?
As soon as we put a dog bed in our room our dog started wetting her bed. She never wet in the room before and as soon as we took it out she stopped and has not peed again.
I asked a trainer and he thought it was marking. Since you have/had a nother dog in the room maybe she is marking.
