has this ever happend when you told someone the name you picke dout?

My dh told me that he was telling a girl he is friends with at work we like Rose for a middle name and she is like "oh no i dont lke that." I dont think he was asking if she liked it was just saying the name we picked out. I mean really how rude, didnt they ever hear if you dont have anyting nice to say dont say anyting at all!

I only talked about it with my mom and SIL and between the 2 of them they don't like any of the names we like. Why did I even bother bringing it up? What was worse was the one name I picked out years ago for the "when" my best friend took For now on, I keep my big mouth shut!!!

Don't listen to what other people think, esp some girl - it's your baby and you name her whatever you both like!!!

never happened to me, but i know that there are people out there that are that stupid that don't know when to keep their mouths shut.

I had DH's parents tell me that they did NOT like some of the first names that we were picking - cause it reminded them of people they didn't like and did not want to think of these people when they heard their grandchilds name. I talked to them and they got over it.
So many people are going to say things to you - you just have to let it roll off your shoulders.
Also - maybe not tell so many people what you are thinking for names.

this stuff drives me INSANE! I told my sister-in-law (after she nagged me!) a name we're thinking about and she rolled her eyes and gave me a look of disgust - that's really nice, huh? I wanted to slap her!

i have never gotten a flat out "i don't like that", but the facial expressions say it all...

we are going with a unique foreign first name, the reaction my MIL had was priceless ! she tried so hard to be polite, but i know she's just not digging it .

we could care less. i had to deal with it my entire life and still do. i find the interesting and educated people have genuine curiosity, whereas the clueless just snicker...

This is the EXACT reason why DH & I have been saying that we have NOT picked out names, even though we have all along.

People are so stupid sometimes.

People can never keep their damn opinions to themselves

BUt this is also one reason that DH and I are not going to be telling anyone (well for the most part) what names we are thinking about - I truly do not need the unsolicited 'advice' or opinions and as long as WE are happy with the name, that's good enough for me!!

Just wanted to add that it's already bad enough that everyone has opinions about EVERYTHING you're deciding on (baby furniture, bedding, colors, birthing techniques, labor medication, etc)... ugh... people are so stupid!

Keep ALL names selections out of conversations with everyone but DH. People will say horrible things and uncalled for things when you share names. I learned that VERY early on. My stepmother said a boy's name that we LOVED was "faggy" ..after she said that I never shared again, except with 1 friend and online friends. My life was much happier. I actually would say" we just aren't sure yet" when the question would come up.

I happen to love the name Rose! Some people just have no sense of right and wrong. how rude!!!

This time I told my DH I want to keep all names quiet, and what does he do tells his Mom one of our boy names and she flat out says I don't like that name. If looks could kill he would have been dead. I told him this is why we aren't sharing
