Can someone look at this IVF protocol...

...and explain a few things to me?
1. Why 2 different progesterones?
2. Why 2 different antibiotics?

progesterone in oil /or Crinone if covered
E2V1mg/50mg Prog vaginal suppisitories

hcg 10,000

antibiotics
clindamycin vaginal supp

i don't really know much about protocols with meds and such
but with my iuis i only had progesterone supps 2x a day
now with ivf i have the supp 3x aday plus a shot of progesterone with sesame oil every morn
i never even thought to question why,

I did the same thing in my first cycle

Yeah, I question everything...almost to a fault!! Sandra is forwarding my email to Dr. B so he can answer. My biggest issue is that the last time I was on progesterone suppositories, I got a horrible UTI from the "leakage" and really don't want to deal with that nonsense during an IVF cycle!

That was very similiar to my protocol.

I was on Crinone, but I know you just said that you didnt fair well with the leakage...but if you do get pregnant its better than dealing with IM shots through 14 weeks

And the other suppository has E2 in it, so that might be why as well!

I question everything too. I have a ton of meds and have no idea what anything is for. I have pills, patches, injections, tons of stuff. I guess u just have to trust your dr (easier said than done, right?).

I plan to ask about all of the meds when I go into the dr tomorrow.

You probably have another week or so of BC right? If you're questions haven't been answered by then...I'm sure they'll go over everything w/ u then!

shawnna.. that was the same exact protocol as i had!

i was on both progesterone too.. the crinone and the E2..
i think the E2 is to help the lining stay nice and thick.. if i recall..

and the antibiotic i believe was 3 suppositories .. thats for after the retrieval i think to prevent infection..

and the other antibiotics which are pill form is for you and DH.. its also to prevent infection.

i just know the basics of it all.. i hope Dr. B clears it all up for you!

Hmm..

I didn't go to Dr. B so I was on a different protocol.

I actually preferred the PIO to the suppositories, so I'm wondering if you can ask to be on those instead if the leakage from the supps is going to give you any kind of infection. I was on Vivelle patches for estrogen... and took Estradiol pills during my FETs so there are definitely other ways besides suppositories to get your E2.

I was on doxycycline 2x/day as my antibiotic too... no suppositories there either.

Ok, Dr. B is on top of it, LOL! He said we'll make whatever changes necessary for my comfort...was just trying to help me get rid of the shots as quick as possible. Call me odd, but I'd rather do the shots!!
Tx for all the input...as you can see, I'm hitting panic mode as it gets more and more real....

I had the same thing, and I didn't get a UTI, but I got "the other" infection.. good ol' yeast 3x's!! Sandra basically said, "it happens with everything that's going in there". LOL It was also hot and in August. It helped to wear the panty liners. although, sounds like you'll be doing the shots.
