Re: chmlengr -- question...
Great! He loves it..... but for now, its for naps only!!!
HOWEVER, we haven't even tried him at night... Although he is a great sleeper and hardly ever stirs or wakes up, I am afraid he'll get up and walk at night, and we still need to put a gate or something up in the hall so he can't get to the stairs (we are in a hi-ranch) or the bathroom. Really, I think he would be fine, its just my own paranoia. He's able to sleep in his crib at night until his sister is about 3 months old, because that is how long we'll most likely have her in a bassinet in our room!

Im glad he is taking to the toddler bed Trish. He looked so darn adorable in that pic. Definitely put up a gate though!!! You never know what they will get into, even the seemingly least explorative toddler can get him or herself into trouble when Mom & Dad are sleeping.

The gate will work until he's 2 1/2 (or 40")apparently... just today I put Sean in his room for a time out and by the time I got to the end of the hall, he was right behind me... he climbed over itl I put him back in and lifted the gate about 6" off the floor... he then slid right under it! That was the quickest 2 minute time out in history.

Kathi-
I had a regular wall mounted gate AND a tension gate mounted above it. It was quite funny, it looked like I was trying to keep a caged animal in. But it worked for awhile...I think we stopped using a gate before he was 3...I forget though - the old preggo brain

Re: chmlengr -- question...
We have the gate and it has to be hardware mounted to the wall, so I need DH to do it. Andrew can open all doors in the house, so the gate is needed!! The last thing I need is for him to wander out the front door, although he would need to get down steps first!
Kathi, thankfully I don't have a climber, but Andrew is certainly the engineer like his mom. It's only a matter of time before he figures out how to unlatch the gate and just let himself through
