People say the dumbest things.

I'll try to make the long story a little shorter.

I am a teacher who works in the same school as my sister. To give a little background information: My sister is older then me and had IF issues when having children, She was fortunate enough to conceive three healthy boys through IVF. After staying home for several years she came back to work. To her shock and ours, she unexpectedly is pregnant. The first day back to school, she went to tell our chairperson, a colleague of ours who we ate lunch with everyday, was with us when she told him. We were walking down the stairs when she turns to me, in front of my sister and says, "Are you ok?" I had no idea what she was talking about. SO I say, yeah I am fine. She says, "Oh, I didn't know if you were upset or disappointed because Janine is pregnant?"

Now she has no idea that we have fertility issues. She just knows that we want to have kids soon. I say no, of course not. It will happen for us soon and then our babies can grow up together.

I think this was very nervy of her and to say that in front of my sister. That is my niece or nephew that she is talking about and I am extremely close to my three nephews.

I know this is very long, sorry just needed to vent.

That sounds like a person who thought that was a way of caring, when instead that was a complete lack of boundaries. I think even a friend would not pass a comment like that unless that was a concern YOU expressed.

Sorry you had to handle such a weird moment like that. Congrats to you and your sister on the news of a new addition to the family.

Thanks ladies. I felt bad or my sister too. I guess I have to chalk it up to stupidity. My sister has been helping with the whole IF process. She is the one who recommended East Coast fertility and telling me what's involved with IVF. We go back to the urologist on Tuesday and hopefully will get some more answers.
