Oreo's still not dealing well with the move....HELP!
I feel like we are back to square one with him. Luckily (knock on wood) no accidents or anything, he is just really upset. Here is the scenerio:
We moved last Saturday from a 2nd floor 1 bedroom apartment w/ wall a/c units away from the parking lot, to a 2 bedroom apartment with central a/c on the ground level. The reason I say all this is because there are a lot more unfamiliar noises he has to to contend with now. He has shown some improvement. He is no longer growling everytime the a/c kicks on or when he hears airplanes. He is barking constantly at cars and people he sees out the wndows now, which I totally expect and think is quite normal. Here's where the problem is...lately he starts whining/barking at 3-4am. He is crate trained so he is crying in his crate like he did when he was a baby. DH took him into the bedroom last night, but I told him we just have to let him cry it out if we can in the kitchen because if we give in to this he will continue to do it. He is also crying like crazy when we go to leave for work like he's very nervous. When we come home he has the small blanket that goes over his crate pulled into the crate half-way and at times it's even hard to open his crate cause he jams it up so much. I feel horrible for him because he is obviously stressed out. Any other ideas to help calm him? Should I continue to leave the TV on for him when we are gone? How long to pups usually take to adjust?
My concern is that he is headed for another major change in just a matter of months (DS is due in November), I don't want him to be so stressed.
Any advice/suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

i would try leaving something of yours with him in his crate when you leave for work and at night. maybe a tshirt with your scent on it or your slippers. my yorkie likes to take my slippers when he goes to sleep even though his pillow is right next to my side of the bed.

How much exercise does he get? In my house, well-exercised/tired dog = happy dog. Their behavior improves immensely when they have the chance to use up their energy - and that includes barking at things, waking up during the night, and acting neurotic. Do you walk him every day and play with him a lot, or take him to a dog park to run around, or even doggy day care if that's a possibility?
We also leave the radio on for background noise while we're gone, probably the same idea as you're already doing with the TV.
Sorry he's having a hard time - I hope he adjusts soon!
