Re: Granite
I'm resizing a picture. It's Black Galaxy. Solid black color with flecks of copper and gold.
For some reason the resizer is taking a while. Oh, I give up for now. It hasn't emailed it back to me.

Re: Granite
I just have submitted it three times. It will probably show up in my e-mail account tomorrow Stupid hotmail
ETA: I was told that the denser the color of the granite usually the most expensive. The market for granite is pretty fixed in price as most of it comes from South America and there are a small amount of importers.
When picking our granite, marble, etc. you really must insist on picking out your own slab from the wharehouse as they can differ in color and pattern, even ones with the same name. I went to the wharehouse and they told me to sign my name on the back of my slab. When they came to install (I wasn't home) DH checked for my signature so we knew it was the same slab.

Re: Granite
I plan on adding granite soon but would like to do some homework before I take that step.
I noticed there are different groups for Granite...Is there a major difference between the groups?

Yeah, anything that is closer to the solids, especially black, will show streaks. I wipe and then dry or just use Glass Plus (no ammonia... can't use ammonia based products on granite as it wears away the finish).
I'm not a big fan of the real busy granite. My MIL has a busy pattern (I don't know the name) and she has to look at the counter from an angle to make sure she's wiped everything up... so busy you could spill a pizza and not see it
I'm not sure what you mean by groups? Do you mean the granite itself? Could be from where it is imported or a certain color family?
WOOT-WOOT... I did it. Thanks Mrs. Erod
This is pre-backsplash and painting. The day the granite was installed.Image Attachment(s):

Re: Granite
yep, I totally recommend going to the granite yard and choosing the actual slab. It's very hard otherwise to really know what you are getting, since all slabs vary.
