Does anyone else feel like this?
First of all let me say that I am a lurker in the infertility boards. I don't have much to say, but you ladies are very inspiring. You are stronger than I ever think I could be.
We have been TTC for over a year. I know there are many people who have been trying for much longer, I am not complaining about the time frame. I have had 4 medicated cycles, millions of tests, and have been diagnosed, then un-diagnosed and then diagnosed again with PCOS (my levels aren't as severe as "typical" PCOS levels).
With all these tests and doctors appointments I feel like sometimes I am forgetting that this is about bringing a child into our lives. I feel like the goal is just to get pregnant. In reality, obviously, that is only the beginning. I feel like sometimes I am losing site of that.
Am I the only one who feels like this?

No, you are 100% right. I talk all the time about "getting pregnant" but it really isn't about just that. I think it just gives me something to focus on and possibly lessen the pain of what it really is...longing for a child or children. Welcome to the board, hope your journey with infertility is soon over.

I think that once you start the journey of fertility treatments it sometimes feels like the only goal in your life is just to have success and get pg. Infertility is so hard and its a very difficult road, but I always remind myself that our goal is to share the love we have with a child.

I've felt like this also at times. It's almost like it's a mission to get pregnant. Hopefully we will all get our BFP's soon!

Re: Does anyone else feel like this?
Welcome. I, too, know how you feel. It became a quest for a pregnancy and we sometimes did lose sight of the goal. I can speak from both sides.
After 3.5 years TTC, 6 IUIs and 1 IVF, I finally got pg in February. It was funny though, one day a few months into the pregnancy, I realized I was going to be a mom. It hit me all of a sudden and I kind of freaked out. As if I completely forget that this journey didn't end once we got the BFP.
I still wonder if it is because for so long we both feared that it might never happen and maybe didn't let ourselves think past the point we were at.
As far as thinking some of us are strong and wondering yourself if you could do the same, you can. There came a point where it didn't seem like we had a choice; we just went forward.
You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have.

Re: Does anyone else feel like this?
nope, TTC and esp.infertility can make the lines blurry. This whole ride is a roller coaster, highs, lows, numbnees even sometimes. It is always good to take a step back and think of the reasons why you and your DH are going down this road.
Good Luck

Re: Does anyone else feel like this?
Every time I see a small child and their parent... I think about it. I think about it every time I see my nephew and niece. I think about it when I see commercials on TV with new moms.
At 1st, in the early stages, I was aiming to get pregnant. Now, I really want the child.

ITA with this! The more difficult it has been for us to get pregnant the more I dream of us starting a family. I am constantly envisioning us how our family will be with our three little children and right now it just seems perfect
Whether we have our own biological children or adopt we are going to have that family and I am keeping my eye on that prize. It keeps me going and it keeps me focused.
This time has also helped me truly appreciate this time where it is just DH and I. I love how our life is now and I'm really trying to get the most out of carefree lifestyle before it all comes to an end!
