Hairballs..........How can we prevent them?
So some of you may remember I have 2 kitties.... The older one has lately been getting hairballs very often. (weird because the younger one bathes himself AND the other, and never gets hairballs!!) Anyway, it went from happening every once in a while to more often lately. Is there anything I can do to prevent them? Is it worse now because it's the summer?
I tried hairball cat treats but she doesn't really like them..... and I don't want to be the primary source of "anti hairball" remedy because I don't want her to gain too much weight! Any suggestions?
And........ of course a picture of my beautiful hairball queen Image Attachment(s):

Brush every single day with a good brush that gets the undercoat (we use a furminator.) If there is no loose hair to lick, then it's not getting into her system.
We also switched to hairball control food.

We give our cat Becky Petromalt as well. She's a maine coon and gets A LOT of them. I'm not very consistent giving it to her but when I do, it does seem to help.

Petromalt is good, but so is putting a few drops of olive oil into their wet food.
