Tell me about Philadelphia

We are thinking of taking a weekend mid-October to see Lewis Black.....DH was asking what there is to do there and I know there's so much, but wanted your opinions as to what's your favorites...

butcher and singer is a very, very good restaurant

Go to Penns Landing

rittenhouse square is a cool neighborhood

Phila. Art Alliance is in that neighborhood-- we saw the exhibit and then did the HH. See "Garden HH" at the bottom of the site. This was definitely a very unique spot...we stumbled on it and loved it. they may do a brunch there too...

My home town...boy do I miss it there.

Take a walk down Walnut St. for shopping (around 15th st).
Go to Art Museum or Franklin Institute (definitely Please Touch Museum if you are bringing kids)
Walk/jog/bike/roller blade along the Schuylkill River near Boathouse Row
Go to Reading Terminal Market for amazing variety of vendors
Take a walk through Manyunk for cute boutique shops and restaurants
Old City (market st. & 2nd, 3rd, & 4th) has a ton of cool stores and restaurants
Penn's Landing along the Delaware River
Have a cheesesteak at Pats or Jims

we did eastern state penn. and ate dinner diagnolly across the street... i can't remember the name but it's an old firehouse. loved the restaurant and LOVED eastern state. we also went to the philly zoo.
