renting a house jersery shore?

next summer i think we want to rent a house with our families, possibly on the jersery shore. i've never been there , but do know that there are so many different areas and dont want to make a mistake and end up in a party area. we're looking for a family oriented, quieter area. Which areas and where should I look online about booking a place?

I love Long Beach Island - it's very family oriented and relaxing.

Not sure where to look online though.

i agree long beach island. I would contact a realtor on long beach island. my family has used vandyk realty for years. try to get on the beach side. the bay side is buggy.

Long Beach or Spring Lake is nice too. Go online and google it.

Stay away from Belmar or Pt Pleasant. That's where I had a Jersey shorehouse... when I was single and partied. LOL! We were loud, drank and played beer-pong everyday. Not the best place for kids. Well, at least not at night.

Ocean City, NJ is VERY family oriented. No partying at all since it is actually a "dry" town. No alcohol for sale anywhere on the island. That being said, the adults usually buy wine and beer at the big liquor stores right before the bridge onto the island and have cocktail hour at the houses. It's fun!
It's about 20 min south of Atlantic City.
and it's an amazing place for kids, tons of playgrounds, fun boardwalk, gorgeous beaches, very bicycle friendly.

Another Chat Icon Chat Icon for Ocean City - my family has been going there for 30 years - and we have the BEST time!

We have done Long Beach Island as well - also a nice place but I don't remember there being a boardwalk. Ocean City has a nice boardwalk with kiddie rides and a waterpark.

i'm a born and raised jersey girl, and definitely agree!! ocean city is the perfect place for a family vacation! its clean, nice, and like she said its a dry town which cuts down on a lot of the shadyness.
LBI ( long beach island) is really nice, too- BUT theres no boardwalk. the boardwalk is nice for the kids to do the rides and games and stuff.
