my dog is eating my house
i can't take it anymore.
he's already "killed":
* countless pillows/blankets * a sofa * molding
my son just called me at work, to inform me that the dog killed the back pillow of my LEATHER SOFA.
i can't do this any more. i have no money, i might not be able to keep my house, i'm trying to go back to school, my son doesn't walk him enough. i just am at my wit's end.
i'm sitting here crying because i love the stupid dog, but i can't do this.

Re: my dog is eating my house
Oh Libby, I truly understand your frustration, I really do.
I have two pit mix pups, we got them within months of each other one was 8 weeks the other 10 weeks. The ONLY thing that helps is when we give them these HUGE bones.
They're sold in Stop N Shop for like $9.99. Petco has them too but they're like $30 - no joke!
But I have found these are the only chew toys they like and keep them from destroying my home.
To make you feel better:
They've chewed: My wood floor - yes, I have a DIVOT in my floor.
My linoleum floor - there's an entire corner missing from a tile by the back door in the kitchen.
A lazy boy chair
My couch
Mouldings
Drywall
Sheets that were on my bed - two queen sized sets!
4 pair of eye glasses - perscription no less!!! Oh and one were my COACH pair of perscription sunglasses!!
Shoes - countless shoes.
And my favorite - a feather pillow. I'm pretty sure I posted the pics on here somewhere, if you have some free time do a search. That was a treat to come home to!
Hang in there, they will grow out of it but for now the only way to combat it is with the miracle bone that keeps your pup busy!!

Re: my dog is eating my house
Try bitter apple spray if you haven't already! You have to reapply it every day or two, but my dogs stay away from things if I spray it on there. They don't like the smell or taste.

Re: my dog is eating my house
he's about 4 (rescue) he's an american pit bull terrier
we've tried to crate him. but he's eaten the crates, too.
on another site, someone showed me TOUGH crates... but they're up to $1k yikes!!!!
i was extremely frustrated when i posted. i know that i'm the mommy, and i'm responsible for what by human and dog children do.
i had a long talk with tommy and we've come up with a "workout" schedule for the dog.
in the meantime, i'm going to investigate getting my treadmill fixed. this way i can put the dog on that thing and tire him out as part of his excercise
thanks for all the info. and understanding.
