Pace for a Mile?
I recently started using the elliptical machine again. What is a good pace to complete a mile in? I know it also depends on the settings for resistance & crossramp.....I just want to compare my performance to some sort of benchmark - Any help?
TIA!!

Re: Pace for a Mile?
On the elliptical I usually average about 8 minutes per mile, which I guess is a speed of 7.5 mph.

What do you have the crossramp & resistance set at?

Re: Pace for a Mile?
I don't know what the crossramp is (I don't know if the machines at my gym have this?), but I set the resistance on 5 or 6 usually (it goes from 1-10 on the machine)

Crossramp is the angling of the elliptical pedals which alter the elliptical path and emulate different different workout courses such hiking or cross country skiing.
The range for the crossramp and resistance on my gym's ellipticals is 1-20. I set the crossramp at 13 and the resistance at 6/7/8.

oh that's good to know about the crossramp.... I think the ellipticals at my gym are kinda old so I don't know if they have this but I'll check next time!

Re: Pace for a Mile?
IMO...it's more important to have the resistance up than your speed really fast but the pedaling easy.
You don't cover as many miles you burn tons of calories.
Optimally, do intervals...3 minutes of high intensity/high resistance and then 2 minutes as fast as you can go at a lower resistance.
Just what I have learned over the years.
