What do you girls think?
Where to begin. DH's first SA gave him a count of 9 million per cc. Motility was good, morphology was 3%.
Our first IUI the number after wash was 2 million.
He had a second SA through the urologist and his number is at 111 million (not sure if that was total or per cc forgot to ask), motility dropped a bit but the morphology is still at 2%.
We are going to do a second IUI and the doctor said if the numbers are still low post-wash we have to go in to discuss further options.
Does it sound like he has a problem or that first SA could've been a bad day? Uroglist says he has varicocele and is recommending surgery but I am wondering if this is necessary now?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure what a variocle is, so no advice there, but I am guessing the jump from 9 to 111 million would be one was per CC and he other was the full count.
I hope everything goes well with the 2nd IUI and no other options are needed

My DH has his SA done by a Urologist and at the initial consult, the dr. said he too had varicocele. Of course we were concerned and DH was not looking forward to surgery as I assume any man would feel the same way. But when his counts came back, the RE said they were fine. I can't offer too much about the counts, because I am still learning this myself, but maybe he could get a second opinion on the varicocele and possibly have another SA done?

DH had bad morphology but I got pg with IUIs all the time, I had another issue which was causing me not to keep them.
I honestly wouldn't do the surgery if I were you. I would attempt a couple of IUIs and then if that doesn't work, I'd move on to IVF.

To play devil's advocate...
Varicocele surgery is an extremely MINOR procedure that is probably totally covered by health insurance. If it DOES fix your husband's morphology & counts, and you plan to have multiple children...it would be worthwhile.
I would ask the urologist & maybe RE about their thoughts on the probability that this varicocele is the culprit.
Def. go for a second opinion.
