Planning a PA vacation
Okay so my husband and I have reservations to stay over next weekend right outside of Hershey, Friday night, Saturday night, coming on Sunday.
Saturday we are spending the day at Hershey Park and going to see Rascal Flatts at Hershey Park Stadium that night.
I'm looking for things to do during the day on Friday (I was thinking around lancaster? But no tours of Amish country. DH is definitely not interested)
Also if anyone could reccomended a nice restaurant in the Hershey/Lancaster area where we could go for dinner that would be great too!
TIA!

Re: Planning a PA vacation
I love Lancaster!! I would definitely visit kitchen kettle. It's an outdoor mini-mall of sorts. Take a look at their website. Along that turnpike they have a lot of amish shops and bakeries. I would also recommend going to Good n Plenty for dinner. OMG the food is soooo good!! There's also a Tanger outlet center there if you'd like to do a little bit of shopping. Across the street from the outlets they also have a small amusement park called Dutch Wonderland.

I don't know if this will fall into the Amish Country section, but there are a few winery's in that area. So you could always spend part of the day wine tasting. I think you do drive through some of Amish Country to get to them though. However if thats the case, I highly reccommend stopping for a soft pretzel. They are amazing!!

Re: Planning a PA vacation
I love this area! We got a lot with my parents. Here are some cool places:
Kitchen Kettle Village
Lancaster Visitors Center info
Chocolate World
Lancaster Barnstormers (this is the same league as the LI Ducks - it is a really nice park!)
Strasburg Railroad
Place to Eat (both are family style):
Plain & Fancy
Good & Plenty
p.s. I LOVE LOVE Rascal Flatts

Re: Planning a PA vacation
love all the suggestions so far. there are also shopping outlets in Hershey. (Right near the park) the Hotel Hershey also has a spa and things like that you can do.... i don't believe you have to be a guest there to make an appointment.
you would think i would have more suggestions since i lived in the area for 4 years at college!

I also went to college in the area. Every Friday, in the center of Lancaster, they have a wonderful Farmer's Market.

We ate at the Iron Hill Brewery in downtown Lancaster when we went this summer. The food is excellent, the service was great, and it had an upscale atmosphere with reasonable prices. I highly recommend it.
