I love my nuw puppy but....

She is great! I love her very much but I hate when she nips. Her teeth are so sharp and I know it is something she will grow out of but does anyone have ideas how to do this???

you just gotta be very stern with her. when my snoop was a puppy, all he did was bite on my arms, it was so bad, my arms looked like i took a razor to them, i was so embarresed to go out, i got looks all the time.

aaahhh, puppy teething! Daisy went through this stage. We did a few things to deter it:

1. We put marbles in a can. When she bit, we shook the can and sternly said NO.

2. We bought bitter apple spray. If she bit or went after her paw, etc, we sprayed the paw or near her mouth. She hated the taste. When she sees that bottle come out, she runs away and hides. She knows she did bad.

3. You will start to notice the teeth falling out - this is NORMAL! The vet told us to deter her from chewing/biting us to let her chew toys, so we bought a stock of nylabones for her. She would chew those and if she got nippy, we gave her a toy. She never went after our furniture, and to this day, she still chews her nylabones.

i recommend bitter apple, spray some on your hand and when your pup opens its mouth to nip you can spray some in its mouth. Good luck!

this is what we did when hershey was in that real teething stage:

- bought a lot of toys that are good for the teething stage

- anytime he started to chew something he wasnt supossed to be chewing, we said "NO!" very sternly and took the item away from him and immediatly replaced it with one of his chew toys

- when he would nip at us, we read that your supossed to pull your hand away (or whatever body part he tried to nip) and say "OUCH!!!!" really loudly like he really hurt you

both of these REALLY worked with hershey!! good luck!

ETA: we also used the bitter apple spray on stuff like his leash & the ends of the couch

I take my puppy to Kindergarten..we use the phrase "No Bite". If he persists, I hold his muzzle closed until he submits and then I let him go and say no bite.

I've had to hold his muzzle shut 2 or 3 x..he's getting ALOT better.

Ollie was a bad nipper. For the most part she's grown out of it but it took a LONG time. She usually nipped when we were playing with her so when she started to nip we told her NO and walked away. She eventually got the point

wow i forgot all about it, that was a painful stage for me. we would spray him w/ a squirt gun. and use bitter apple spray, and i always wore think socks. many many chew toys too
