Why is my frozen EBM always off?

I have a nice sized stash of frozen EBM in my freezer and when I go to defrost it, 2 out of 3 times the milk is off. Sometimes is smells rotten, other times it just smells and tastes bad.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? It was frozen right after being pumped, I defrost it under running water...I think that all the rules are being followed. Can you help me with this problem?

Could it be something you happened to eat the day you pumped?

If you froze it immediately, I wouldn't worry about it.

I defrost in the frige or in a cup of cold water and then I warm up the bottle when I can to melt the fat.

I know my LC said that in some women's BM, there is a reaction with one of the acids in the milk. There is nothing wrong with it, even if it smells bad. She said to prevent it, you boil it for two- three minutes immediately after pumping, and then freeze. It should stop the reaction.

Im no pro with BM but I do know that sometimes it SEEMS bad and it really might not be. Its just not very appealing in color or consistency as it is (no offense!! )

I hope you havent thrown out your liquid gold, I know how precious it is !
