Yep - this is in Florida....

We knew we had to move out of NY if we wanted to afford a house and kids on one salary - my DH can transfer offices and we had a few options (Orlando, Bermuda, Dublin)

We figured Florida would be best - and my parents/sister/grandparents are down there.....they will be about 30-40 mins from us.....and DH's job in Orlando will be a 40 min drive - we picked a spot that was right in between both his job and my family....

It just came down to us wanting a better life - we wanted a nice house, a low mortgage payment, we wanted to still have money to play with - we didn't want to worry about me working....we love NYC but we don't want to struggle....so hopefully this will work out for us....

Those were some choices. Dublin wow. That would have been an adjustment.
I love your reasoning, I think it's very smart. It's a beautiful townhouse. I love the fact that it's all nuetral just like it was waiting for you to come and make it your own.

I work full time now - I've been a working lady since I'm 16 When we first go down we'll only have 1 car and DH will need it to travel so until our lease is up in March we'll probably keep the 1 car and I'll stay home - then when we turn the car in we'll get two and I'll try and find something part time - I can't imagine not having my own paycheck and it's going to be boring and lonely - I def need something so I can get out and meet people - it's just a matter of figuring it out once we are down there....Then when we have kids I'll probably stop working for awhile - that is the plan - that if I "want" to stay home I can....but it would foolish not to work in the meantime b/c the extra money can't hurt - plus it will give me a chance to socialize....

I'm actually really sad about leaving my job - I try not to think about it It still doesn't seem real yet so the emotions about leaving haven't really sunk in yet......I work with great people and I can't complain about my job - so it's going to be hard to leave my friends here - I see these people EVERY day - some of them are like family to me - I'm hoping that we all still keep in touch after I am gone - I plan on visiting NY a lot so I have to make it a point to visit my old co-workers/friends/family....

That's awesome though. Enjoy the time off. Maybe you can sell some stuff on ebay or etsy to keep busy. I am sure there will be neighbors to meet too. If there is a local pool/gym thats always good places to meet people too.

Yea i am somewhat kicking ourselves for not leaving NY this way we could of had so much more in life, my grandfather's place is for sale in Florida (oralndo) but in a older development and it needs a ton of work so we just figured to stay up here near our family. IF we had family down there I think we might of made the move out.

Yeah - having some family down there was the push that we needed Chat Icon

The seed was planted after we saw the house my parents bought down there!

We originally were going to move close to my parents (in the same town) and we even bought some property there (a lot to build a house on) but it would have been a further drive for my DH to go to work and the area my Mom is in (she moved there to be close to my Grandparents) isn't as nice as this area....so she kind of pushed us to look in this area instead and once we saw the town we were sold on it....it's a little more expensive but still really cheap compared to NY and it's not as far for my DH to commute....

Having family there def helps - even though we won't be that close to them (40 minutes away) you get some piece of mind knowing you aren't the first to move and you know you'll always have somewhere you can go in under 1 hour - and that's nice....Plus I wanted to be near MY MOM when we have kids - although I love my DH's mom it wouldn't be the same as having my own Mom there....

I am itching to close now - I want it to be officially ours already!!

First, congrats on the beautiful home! Yay for another LIF'er in Florida! You will love the different pace here in Florida-and it is no where as pricey and cramped as NYC. I love NYC also, but you have tons of space here!
