What to make with chopped meat (turkey)
Other than the typical burgers/tacos...my husband doesn't like the taco seasoning in the packets, so we can never have tacos
Thanks!

Definitely can do taco seasoning without the packet. It’s too spicy for DH so I just do it with garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and cumin. It turns out pretty well. Or, my old roommate in college used to just mix in some salsa with the meat. That works too. I LOVE turkey tacos!

Yeah it works out pretty well, just err on the side of less at first so the meat doesn't get too runny...it cooks down and flavors the meat pretty well though!
Sidenote: when I saw your quote of my post I realized I spelled meat as meet. Oh man. long day.

Re: What to make with chopped meat (turkey)
i made my own turkey meatballs yesterday.
ground turkey (i used the leanest) 1 egg panko bread crumbs or regular breadcrumbs (or no breadcrumbs) garlic powder or minced fresh garlic minced onion or diced or chopped fresh onion basil ground pepper
mush together w/ your hands and make into balls (not too big)
i used 2 jars of pre-made tomato sauce (i like marinara)
empty the jars in a large spagetti pot and place the meatballs in. spoon the sauce over the meatballs.
cover and cook on medium heat for 1 and 1/2 hours to 2 hours. check the meat to see if they are cooked through before serving.
and voila! homemade meatballs!

Re: What to make with chopped meat (turkey)
I make 2 different versions of stuffed peppers:
Italian: I use orzo pasta, sauteed meat w/onions, Italian seasonings, garlic, etc., diced tomatoes and white beans
Mexican: Rice, sauteed meat w/ onions, taco seasoning/chili powder, diced tomatoes, and kidney beans
Sautee everything on the stove over some olive oil. I heat the peppers in the oven to get them started (after removing the inside parts). Then I put the stuffing in and bake for 25 mins or until the peppers are a little soft. You can also cover in cheese (mozz for Italian, Cheddar for Mexican)

I make anything that I would have made with chopped meat. Lasagna, baked ziti, stuffed peppers, tacos, sloppy joes, meat loaf, turkey burgers, etc

Stuffed peppers with ground turkey is one of Rob's top 5 foods. We do an Italian style. I cook rice in beef stock and chopped onions and garlic in a little olive oil, add the turkey, Worcestershire sauce, beef boullion and a little pepper. I cook it up, add a handful of Gruyere, some tomato sauce, frozen peas and the cooked rice. I actually pre-cook the pepper shells for about 10-15 minutes without stuffing. Then add the stuffing, top with tomato sauce, grated cheese (I use Gruyere and Reggiano) - and pop into oven until cheese is bubbly and melted.
I am so trying your mexican recipe!

Re: What to make with chopped meat (turkey)
lots of times i just do a quick pasta with veggies and the chopped turkey meat.
Brown the meat in a frying pan, cook some frozen or fresh veggies separately. cook some pasta ( i usually use medium shells). When its all just about cooked, I toss it all in the meat frying pan with some seasoning. Dh and I love it, it's filling and we usually have plenty left over for lunch the next day.

Re: What to make with chopped meat (turkey)
I personally hate turkey meatballs, I think they have a "tinny" taste to them.
I'd do Hamburger Helper with turkey, chiliwith turkey, or use the taco seasoning above, it looks yummy
