Hotels in Sicily (Taormina and Palermo)
Does anyone have any family hotel recs in Taormina and Palermo? We are thinking of taking a trip to Calabria next summer to visit family, and want to make a stop in Sicily. I've been there many moons ago, but stayed at my grandmothers house. Thats not an option now, so we are now looking to stay at a hotel & tour the island.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

One of my best friends lives in Catania, I can ask her if you'd like. We are going to see them, but we are staying at their house.

I was there last summer and we stayed at Citta del Mare---it was good but not great

I don't have any suggestions because I was there with some friends - college years- and needless to say the accomodations were not the best BUT I just wanted to tell you we had an amazing time in Sicily.
We visited Palermo, Catania and Taormina and it was so beautiful. Taormina was definitely one of my favorites!

we stayed at the Hotel Grande Albergo Sole ....no complaints and centrally located....
we also stayed at the hilton villa igea....wouldn't recom. not in center of town and pricey but the view from the pool was amazing and one of the only hotels that had a pool...we stayed there the first 2 days to relax and get over the long flight
both in palermo
i absolutely loved sicily and cannot wait to go back! the food is amazing there!

Taormina...
I wish I could help you as well, but when I was there I also stayed with family.
I am dying to go back to Sicily with dh. he's never been and I think he would love it.
bring me back some almond cookies.
oh, and try this website.
Venere I have pretty good luck with bookings for Italy with them. though pricey, THIS place looks promising.

We went to Taormina about 2 years ago and stayed at Villa Ducale. We LOVED it. It's not in the center of town, but they have a shuttle service and you can walk. It's a beautiful small hotel, nice views, wonderful service, and the breakfast is the best I've ever had.
