houses w/gas!

we are going to be converting from oil to gas probably this summer.
We are on a budget plan w/oil right now and we pay $245 every month (including the summer)

About how much do you pay w/gas? do they also have budget plans or do you pay every month according to what you use?

We did a gas conversion when we moved into our house last year and Keyspan told me that we couldn't go on a budget until we have a 12 month history so they can see our usage. So, we have been paying by the month so far. For our 3 bed colonial it was approx. $300 a month during the Winter and about $100 a month in the Summer. We have gas for heat and cooking.

I heard gas is just as expensive as Oil is... more or less.

I was going to say this too, gas may be a little less but I don't know if it's a big difference.

But I LOVE a gas stove!Chat Icon

I heard that too. I have oil but use propane for the stove.

We have gas for heat and cooking. Our gas and electric bill are from the same company, so we have a combined bill. In the winter the combined bill was $330-$350 a month. Last month it went to $230. We expect it to be WAY lower in the summer.

Re: houses w/gas!

It was around $250 for DEC-FEB and my last bill for MAR was $150 (but this was an estimate not an actual).

Re: houses w/gas!

We have a 3 bedroom townhouse and its was about 160-175 during the winter, and about 60 or so during the summer.

I LOVE cokking with our gas stove. It just seems so much easier!

We have gas for everything and the worst bill we had was $260 this winter. Other winter months are aroudn $150. In the summer I think we even had a bill in the 30's, but that could have been from their bad estimating job.

Re: houses w/gas!

okay...so i guess its not as bad....pretty much the same as oil, but depending on how much you use you'll be billed...
I hate the thought of having to pay $245/month for oil even in the summer!!

Re: houses w/gas!

I don't budget-I would rather just pay for it as I use it. So in the winter my bills are huge-something like $400-$500 a month, but in the spring. summer and part of the fall I have no oil bills. So maybe 4 1/2 months I'll pay through the nose.
