LI-IVF girls who have done IVF - a few questions.
I may be jumping the gun a bit but I want to make sure I have this all planned out correctly so that we don't miss out on a cycle.
We are doing our second IUI this cycle. If the post-wash sperm count is low again the Dr. told me that we would come in to "discuss our other options" which at this point I'm assuming is IVF?
My question is how soon after your cycle starts do they get you started? On what cycle day do you start taking meds or do they give you birth control to cycle everyone at the same time?
I just want to prepare myself if it doesn't work out this month for when this would all happen and if it would be right away.
Thanks a lot!

Unless your cycle happens to fall in line with everyone else doing IVF, you will take birth control to be even with everyone else.
My cycle was a little different because I had very little time to force my body to be in tune with all the other patients. I started with provera for 5 days, got AF, started BCP on CD2, took them for 11 days. While doing the BCP we had DH's semen analysis done again and I had a water sono. The I stopped them and on CD 15 I had BW and a sono to determine if I could start the meds if I was going to get AF in the next couple of days. I was given the go ahead and started the menopur and dexamethasone on CD15, got AF 3 days later. I triggered on CD8 and had retrieval 2 days later.
HTH!

They give u BC to put you on the same (or close to same) schedule as everyone else.
There's a bunch of stuff they make u do ahead of time:
IVF class (2 hours on a Tuesday night) Appt w/ social worker (both of u have to go) Infectious disease testing for both of u Water sono
There's a few other things too. Getting all of the steps done can take a cycle or two!

Sorry to intrude - never had IVF - but I am a LIIVF patient and I was wondering what they consider a low post wash count. I had an IUI done one week ago and Dr. Brenner wants me back to discuss options and I am wondering if that is why because our counts looked low to me.

Thanks so much everyone for responding!
Okay so bottom line is this isn't going to happen so soon. DH and I have already had all our blood tests and the screening they do for their IVF patients.
Do you mind me asking why they want you to meet with a social worker?

I think you can choose to deny this but we went.
It was nice actually... the lady we went too spoke to us how we were handling the infertility as a couple, what we would do if the ivf didnt work for us, if we thought about multiple etc.
She gave us tips on how to deal with any anger/dissapointment, how to support each other etc.

Re: LI-IVF girls who have done IVF - a few questions.
Honestly, you should speak with your Dr.
They do not put you on BC to line you up with the cycles, they put you on BC or Lupron to suppress your system so there are no lead follicles.
The social worker and the class are optional. If you have been doing medicated IUI's, you won't need the class and you can deny the social worker.
You will have to have bloodwork done.
Usually, it takes about six weeks to get in an IVF cycle....the bloodwork will take about ten days and then you will have to wait for your cycle to start, then start BCP for approx. 3 weeks. The "series" at LI-IVF usually run about 6-8 weeks, so you can usually get in on one easily. The only times there is an issue is August and December when they stop doing IVF cycles to do inventory, etc.

This is why I was put on Provera and then BCP. I cycled starting December 1st and it was going to be the last series for awhile and the doctor wanted to get me in there. They had no problem telling me they were gonna mess around with my cycles for the month to push me into the series.
