Re: carpet or wood or mix - bedrooms

personalyl i like a rug in a bedroom. id rather step onto soft and comfy than hard and cold in the morning.

now if you arent planning on putting an area rug under the bed (which it can be expensive to purchase a large enough area rug to go under the bed) than you are going to be constantly be dealing with dust bunnies under the bed so sweeping, dusting mopping, rather than just using the vaccuum

it is just personal preference. you can probably get cheap carpet if you ask them what they have as left overs or on rolls.

in our house we have carpet in all 4 bedrooms and stairs and hardwood in LR kitchen and hallways

Re: carpet or wood or mix - bedrooms

I grew up with wall to wall carpet in my house, and while it's nice to have, we are going to refinish our hardwoods in the house and have area rugs. we may end up putting down wall to wall carpet in our third bedroom when it's time to make it a nursery(Chat Icon), but initially, we're not having carpet.

I found some really nice area rugs on Overstock this week for under $200; all are 8x11" and got great reviews from others that have bought them.

Re: carpet or wood or mix - bedrooms

I am a little confused with your poll and post.

Dining room, living room, guestroom, old master and additional other rooms all have wood floors (some need to be refinished). Master bath has ½ rug ½ tile.

What is the current flooring of the Master Bedroom?

I would not mix pergo with hardwood. IMO, the flooring in all the bedrooms should be the same (hardwood or carpet). Deciding on which is a personal preference. I prefer the softness and warmth of carpet in bedrooms but the hardwood in my home was in perfect condition so I just added area rugs to all rooms.

If you opt for wall to wall carpet, I would splurge for something of high and long lasting quality.
