Hi Ladies!
I didn't post yet on the introduction thread yet as I set up my appt with East Coast Fertility for the beginning of September, so I do not have a diagnosis as of yet.
I did have a few questions for those that have been on this board and have some knowledge. I called our insurance company and they cover a small amount (5k) towards IF treatments, such as IVF, GIF (?), ZIF (?), and to cover IF drugs.
I am a little shocked that they don't cover more (dollar wise) - my question is if we meet with the RE and they do 'ovulation induction' or an 'IUI' - are they considered IF treatments? Do RE do other treatments other than IF 'treatments'.
I just want to make sure I understand it all... TIA

Re: Hi Ladies!
U may want to double check with your insurance again just to be sure. My company confused me at first bc they said they cover up to $10K for advanced IF treatments.....but then I called back and found out that they don't consider IUI advanced IF treatments so those are fully covered. Also, try to double check if they prefer certain drs....I don't have to pay a co-pay when I go for monitoring bc they consider my dr a preferred dr.

I am an East Coast patient and they do have a realy good billing dept. They will actually call you and go over all your insurance coverage prior to you coming in. You may want to give them a call.

Re: Hi Ladies!
Hi and welcome. I hope your stay here is short.
You need to learn more. You need to find out whether the $5k includes meds and monitoring. I think that some of the monitoring can be billed as diagnosis.

Re: Hi Ladies!
My plan also covers $5K per calendar year for IF treatments. This, sadly, includes everything....office sonos, IUIs, blood work, ect.
It's not much, but if your plan is the same...try a staggered plan (treatments for part of one year & part of another)....because covering $10K is pretty good!
Also, my meds are covered by another plan, but some of the more simple ones (clomid) are practically free.
And I agree...the finance ppl will make sure they & you are on top of what is covered & what is not.
