Why are Montauk hotels so expensive?!?!?
Why are Montauk hotels so expensive?!?!? I just want a quick lil getaway. Does anyone know of a Montauk hotel that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Its so pathetic, I am 28 and never visited montauk lol. I have this on my list of things to do this summer.... help me out if you can.

I don't have any suggestions . I just was going to vent with you too!
We just looked into hotels in Montauk too last week. We looked at Gurney's and Panoramic View- so freakin expensive.
Now we are just going to go for a day trip or wait till the weekend of and see if they are any opening. They all had 3 or 4 days minimums....but the front desk said if there are vacancies that weekend they will except 1 or 2 night stays. Still the prices are

i was just at Montauk last weekend. We did a day trip with the kids because we just got back from another vacation and i didnt feel like dishing out another 250 for one night. Not worth it IMO. Although i used to do it when the kids were little, i feel like its a LOT of $$
We left Western Suffolk at 9 am ere in Montauk at Hither Hills at about 10:45/ Stayed there till 4, took showers at HH's and then we walked around town, went to dinner and drove home. Left Montauk at 7:30 and we were home by 9. It's a nice day trip!

Those are probably the two MOST expensive hotels in Montauk (the Manor is pricey too) so that is probably why you get quoted high prices. Plus they don't have a ton of rooms to rent, they have time shares as well.
They are so expensive b/c people booked them last summer or months ago, Montauk is actually doing pretty well in the economy b/c it is a nice place to take a vacation, but you don't have to travel that far.
IMO, as someone who has spent every summer there since she was 4, I'd wait til September or October. More availability and not as busy

they are so expensive now because is is their season now. If you want a cheaper price, I would suggest going in October.

We were just there and the room was about $205/ night.
It's highg season & pricey but we stayed 100 ft. from the beach. There are other motels you can stay at further from town & there are others within walking distance to the beach, but it's all pricey.
The places you named are very expensive.
My boss was just at The Panoromic View and it was about $700+/ night - talk about $$.

I agree Oct is so much cheaper.. and its our anniversary so we are thinking of going then as well!

If you can, go off season. We went in June, rented a beach front room, it wasn't crowded, we loved it. But this same room in season was WAY out of our price range. But any beach town in peak season is going to have through the roof prices.
