Just feeling screwed

I had my most recent blood work done (beta and prog) at my health center at work. They ask me what my insurance is...I give them the info.

They sent my b/w to Quest not Labcorp. They have the capbility to go to either lab but sent it to Quest.

Quest sends me a bill..$209 of which I am now responsible for 30% since it's out of network.

I'm at my in network deductible which means this would cost me nothing and I did it this way instead of going to the doc so I wouldn't have to incur the taxi back and forth which would have been $25+.

I'm fuming. This tech who did the blood work has not been especially helpful and I have to pry stuff out of her.

This just makes me so nuts. She said she is going to make a call and call me back, but I don't know what she can do at this point.

I had 4 blood draws in the last month from her. She says my stuff always went to Quest. Always? You mean in 2005 and 2006? Quest hasn't been in network since 2007.

Complain to the health center and make them eat it. I did that with my GP's office who sent my blood to the wrong lab even though they had it in my file to go to Quest.

I am so sorry you have to deal with.... it is so frustrating...... nothing is easy...
