Those that have visited LA....
Where have you stayed when in LA visiting the tourist centers?
-Universal Studios
-Oxnard (visit Drum factory)
-Santa Monica (pier)
-La Brea Tar Pits
-Kodak Theatre
-Aquarium of the Pacific
-Grauman's Chinese Theatre
I'm looking at AAA guide and there are so many hotels to look at. We're happy with Ramada/Days Inn type deals - just a safe place where we can sleep at night while we do our day tours.
Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

we stayed in santa monica which is calm and beautiful and by the water and still not far from any of those places. we loved it there

We stayed @ the Crowne Plaza in Beverly Hills. Try also Hampton Inn, they include breakfast, and they are clean and nice and reasonable. HTH

We stayed at the Embassy Suites near LAX airport. It was a nice hotel, and a good price when you figure that you get a hot breakfast and evening cocktail hour included. It was a decent drive to some of the attractions, but we found it was a lot of driving no matter where we stayed. Have fun!

If you want to stay on the beach stay in Santa Monica. Lots of beautiful hotels there but most are pricey. For a pretty reasonable centrally located hotel, I like the Hollywood Reniassance Hotel on Hollywood Blvd. You can walk to Grauman's Theater and are close to Sunset and Melrose. And you can easily get to lots of other places from there. Have so much fun - I love LA and am going in a month.
