Anyone do their own composting?
Where did you get your bin? Have any tips?
DH and I were thinking about it- we have all these leaves laying around and we wanted to do something beneficial with them. It's a huge PITA in my town to toss leaves (you have to buy special bags from the town and then they are only picked up sporadically) so we just kept them, but now it's a mess. And composting is something I wanted to try anyway.

we do, but I don't really know anything about it. I leave it to Al. The bin came with the house...

We used to do it but we didn't use a bin. We had a pile in a corner of the yard -- leaves, egg shells, organic materials -- and dad would turn it over once in a while and use it for his vegetable garden.

My dad is big on the compose, but only has a big heap (sometimes has a bit in chicken wire), but he covers it with a board for when our dog comes over.
My BIL built one with railroad wood(?)
