Re: Pictures from the dog park
Yeah! great photos! love the park! Hubby and i brought Barkley there over the 4th weekend.. LOVE it there...
HighHopes As per there website: The main entrance to Blydenburgh Park is on the north side of Veterans Memorial Hwy (Rte 454), opposite the H. Lee Dennison County Center in Smithtown, approximately 3/4 mile west of the junction of Rtes 454 and 347, and approximately 1 1/4 mile east of the entrance to the Northern State Pkwy. The dog park is easy to find - after you enter the park just stay on the scenic winding road and follow the signs to the dog park. (or follow the car in front of you, more than likely it's heading to the dog park!)

Re: Pictures from the dog park
Was it very buggy on the trails? Last time I was there, there were a lot and we encountered two off-leash dogs that didn't seem very 'stable'. Turned me off a little, since I used to go there off season and didn't have much issue with other dogs on the trails.
I know just where that area is, that's a nice place to stop and relax! Looks like you had a nice time.

We didn't have any issues at all with bugs. I love that little area to sit and relax. There was a woman there with her dog and she said to us "wow you're brave bringing food here with the dogs". I said "really...to a picnic table?"
I thought that was odd...since we don't let our dogs ON the tables And we did see people walking their dogs off the leash but they didn't bother us. Does make me a little uneasy..but so far, we haven't had any problems.
ETS: Thank you LTC for adding the info to the park. It's really a nice place.

Re: Pictures from the dog park
Yea, I don't know why she would say that. Brave? Like you're going to be attacked for the food?
Last time we were there, a woman and her son were on the trail and she asked if he could pet Brinkley. Which was great. That's when the told us about a snake that was eating a frog down the trail.
When I think of all the things that could go wrong with Brinkley off leash - that I can't trust him not to run straight to another (possibly aggressive) dog to play, or come back when called, etc. I know that I can't go on the trails without that leash.
Have you ever been to Gardiners Park with them? We've only been there once but it was really great to be on the beach with him.

I used to go there a lot as a teenager...to watch my than boyfriend go claming...
I have taken them there a few times. It's a nice trail/walk to the beach. Hmmmm...maybe I'll head there later today or tomorrow with them.
ETS: I could never let my dogs off their leash on the trails...I KNOW they would run. And my chihuahua thinks she's bigger than she is and would pick a fight with the biggest dog out there. As for the snake...I would if I ever saw one.

Gardiners Park? Is the water tam there?
I really really really want to bring Barkley to a beach. He LOVES the water and when we go to blydenburg my husband is affraid of letting him go in the lake. I feel like if we go to a beach at least my husband can jump in the ocean hehehehehehehe...
