IVF question? RE: ER
I was wondering if the ER date is set in stone beforehand? like in the schedule they give you? or could it be like.. 2 days notice or something?
reason being.. is for taking the day off.. like my DH would need time in advance..

Re: IVF question? RE: ER
They can give you an estimate...it's so hard to know how you are going to respond to the stims. For example, my first IVF, I stimmed for 13 days (on average, I think they say 9 days), so my ER was on day 15, my 2nd IVF I only stimmed for 9 days. I would say within 2 days of your ER you should have a pretty good idea.
ETA: Once you get the go ahead to trigger, then your ER will be 2 days later (i.e. trigger at 9pm Tuesday = ER 9am Thursday)

Re: IVF question? RE: ER
The day can definitely change. It all depends on how many days you stim for. You'll get an idea of when it might be once you are stimming for a week or so.

Re: IVF question? RE: ER
It's not set in stone because it all depends on how you respond to the medications and when your follies are ready. They usually give you an "estimated" date for your ER when you first start, but it definitely could be within a few days. As you continue to stim, they start to get a better idea of when it will be. I think my ER was about 2-3 days before my estimated date they gave me when I started. But you should know 2 days before. On my last day of stimming, I took my trigger shot that night, then went back the next morning for one more follie check, and then at my ER the following day.

Re: IVF question? RE: ER
It all depends on how you are stimming, so no it is not set in stone. But, you will know when you are getting close. Your doc tells you towards the end of your stimming, after he does the sono when he thinks you are ready. You can stim from 8 to 12 days and then you get your hcg and your ER is 36 hours after the shot.

Re: IVF question? RE: ER
ahhh, thanks ladies!!
i figured as much that it would be depending on my stimming , and follie size. at least the "estimated" date could help us.. either way i think if DH explains to his work , it should be fine!
thanks so much again!
