contractor estimate

Just wanted to see what everyone things.

We had a contractor come in a give us an estimate for finishing a room.

Basically what it entails is :

ripping out all the panelling, ceiling and going down to the bare studs.

installing sheetrock in the entire room and framing and installing a sheetrock ceiling.

Adding new electrical outlets.

Making a cutout for an aircondition w/ a new circut breaker and outlet for this.

and closing a doorway which leads to outside.

The total cost was estimated $2300

It was basically a playroom/family room which we are converting to a bedroom. Its 14 x 16.

Just wondering if anyone has some comparable work done to compare prices.

We had another estimate which came in 300 higher for the same work and a 3rd which we didn't even get since the contractor admitted he was not licsensed.

Re: contractor estimate

i would say that is fair. You could save more money if you do the demo yourself.

That seems fair. My brother in law is a contractor. If you want his info let me know.
