Canada?? Traffic at Border.

We are going away to Westport NY for a week. I am contemplating going to canada for a Day since its so close. Does anyone know if the traffic at the boarder is bad. I don't know if I really want to be sitting in traffic for a couple of hours expecially with DS.

i just came back from canada. it wasn't bad. if you're going, u need passports

I've crossed a couple of times. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes to get through. Probably more like 3-4 minutes. This was before you needed a passport, though.

i went not too long ago and there was traffic.. it was a weekend ,maybe thats why?

we went Labor Day weekend in 2004 and the traffic was horrendous. During the week might not be so bad.

We go to Westport every year (actually Moriah, the next town over). My friend has a house on the lake there. Spent many nights at the Marina bar over the years

During holiday weekends, travel over bridges can be horrendous! We were up in Niagara Falls at Father's Day - that was the only time in my life that I can remember that there was NO traffic at the Rainbow Bridge (I'm from the Buffalo area).

Is there a way for you to park on the American side and walk over?

We went in October 2 years ago and the traffic was seriously rediculous. It took us about 45 minutes. I think it may have been a holiday, and we went at a bad time. Going back into NY on the way home was a breeze though.

I guess it just depends.
