Beefsteak Charlie's- MAssapequa

I wanted to try it out since I remember going to the old one with my parents as a kid.

It was HORRIBLE!!! Sooo bad.

The salad bar was very limited and I saw the manager pick up food that came out of the canisters and throw it back in with her bare hands- specifically a cucumber and a tomato.

To add the salad bar to a sandwich was $5.69- which is alot if you don't eat shrimp (which I don't- and DH wouldn't touch them because they still had legs )

They brought us breadsticks- hard as a rock- Gross.

The service s*cked. The kid helping us disappeared for awhile then came back and apologized saying "We were just playing a joke on the bartender- she thinks we're all gay..." and went on about it for a few minutes.

The main course was only slightly better- I had a pastrami sandwich (fatty and greasy) and a baked potato (small and lukewarm). DH had steak and lobster- he said the lobster was pretty good- but the steak wasn't great.

All in all- I wouldn't recommend it. I'll never set foot in that place again. Definitely not the place of my memories.

I went there last week. I should have posted to warn people. ITA with you!!! It's awful!!!! And it took FOREVER to get our food. We were there so long our 3 year old fell asleep and he's never done that before!!!

When I went to the salad bar, there was no lettuce!!! It took a good 15 minutes for them to bring new lettuce. There was no shrimp either and that took even longer to replenish.

I agree, the service is awful too. I don't know who the manager is. It's a bunch of kids in there acting like it's play time with no supervision.

I had such fond memories from my childhood - such a shame. It's not the same at all!

oh - that is such a shame! i was so excited to know that it was opening....my mom & i were just talking about it the other day!!!!

How awful. That place was great when we were kids!
