Casual Meals For Company..
DH and I have company coming to stay with us for a week...Adults and children. Im trying to plan the meals ahead of time so it's one less thing we have to worry about when everyone is here...
We are keeping it simple....
One night is BBQ with burgers and dogs, corn on the cob, slaw, and salad.
2 nights are pizza and salad (their request coming from Florida)
One night is sauce with meatballs, pasta, bread, and salad.
Have some other ideas but I'd like to hear some others...
We are going bagels a few mornings (again the Florida thing)...Dunkin Donuts one morning...big breakfast one morning with eggs, bacon, etc...the rest we are leaving it to cereal, leftover bagels, toast etc....
Lunch will be leftovers, cold cuts, tuna or chicken salad...
Any ideas for simple family fair..for non picky people...is greatly appreciated...just simple things..not looking to impress...just feed the family...
TIA..

Quiche with soup or salad
Ribs (COSTCO has packaged ones that are good) with string beans, corn bread and homemade mac & cheese
Mexican Night - Tacos and/or fajitas with all the fixings, beans and rice

FONDUE!!!!
it's so easy and so fun! even the kiddies will love it.
last time we did cheese fondue and had of course toasted french bread, sliced raw veggies, cooked boiled potatoes (stole this from raclette ) and I fried up some chorizo.
put all the dippings on trays and everyone dug in!
sooooo good and so easy (and clean up is a dream!

Roast Chicken is always easy and good for a family meal.. and the leftovers are great the next day.
Someone posted a baked French toast recipe on here the other day that was really decent and super loved by my kids.. and it didn't require soaking overnight or any crazy stuff.. super simple.
I make a super simple chicken Tuscany for company a lot.. it's easy and quick so I can spend less time in the kitchen and more time with the company.
I completely agree with the Mexican night - tacos and fajitas with all the fixings and a GIANT bowl of sangria.
Have fun!

I'd do a taco night (LOL see my familly vacation post!)
Maybe penne a la vodka? Chris has a great recipe that even my Italian grandma loved (my Irish husband worked at many a pizzaria!)

Re: Casual Meals For Company..
What no, steak tar tar and mushrooms in a gorgonzola pesto sauce ????
Crock pot darlin' ...Good ole beef stew or chili with some cornbread...
Sausage and peppers ( can make that way in advance)
And you could always do another bbq night ( shish kabobs or flank steak on the grill)

I dont have a crock pot big enough....Did I mention how many people????
On top of me and the DH...our combined 6 children....we have DHs 3 siblings....AND 3 children ages 13,10,& 8....
But maybe I could do a Taco night like another PP suggested and use the crock pot for the taco meat???
Steak tar tar...

That's an idea actually...I think we are doing sushi one night for the adults...we could get the kids chinese and then have leftovers for lunches.

You DO go to the sushi place on Portion Road right? The one near Blockbuster ?
Super cheap, super good- been going there for years
